On March 28th, 2018, my wife and I enjoyed a quiet day together while the kids were in school. We decided to stop in to the Don Street Restaurant for lunch. When our waitress placed our incredible sandwiches down in front of us, I immediately reached for my phone. Not only did I want to take a picture of our lunches before we dove in, I also wanted to check us in on Facebook. The following caption was something that had been bouncing around in my head for quite some time. I thought I would just throw it out there into the universe. Honestly, you never know what might happen.

Well, a year later and here we are. Not only did AWATEATS come out of retirement, it launched into something more than I could have ever imagined. This will be the 50th article posted on awateats.com, the website has received over 5,000 views and a couple of weeks ago this happened…

Through the love and support of my family, friends and followers, we shot a pilot episode for the AWATEATS YouTube channel. The goal is to launch the channel by the end of summer. What an incredible rush that was. And now when people ask me “How are you doing?” I can truly say I am living the dream!
So, with all of this going on I wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU to a few of the incredible people that have made this all possible.
First to my Wife and Children. Thank you for your love and support. You have kept me motivated and given me a sense of purpose. To my good friend Laurence who has been my biggest fan, retweeting, liking and commenting on every post no matter how small. Immediately following, he always messages me directly to see how I am doing. To my Brother-In-Law Lauren who has been my professional sounding board, who has taken on the role of graphic designer. He is also my editor who corrects all of my commas and LOL’s and who tells me whether my articles are good or bad. Thank you to the group of ladies at work who talk to me about every post and check in with me everyday to see what or where the next adventure will be. Roxy, I promise a Vegan recipe section is coming soon. To Warren and Steph who spent the time and energy turning my kitchen into a film studio and did their very best to try and turn this goofy guy into a cooking show host.
Last and certainly not least, I want to send a big THANK YOU to my friend Neale from ScreenChat Podcast. Really, without him, there wouldn’t be any of this. I would use the term that he “inspired” me to do this, but I know he would much prefer to be known as the “instigator” behind it all.
Neale, my friend, thank you for the daily chats, the wild ideas, for never seeing this as “just a hobby” and for pushing me to dream big. For everything you have done and continue to do I am truly grateful! For everyone out there, if you haven’t had a chance to check out his reviews and podcasts about your favorite movies past and present, please do yourself a favour and go and check them out at the link below.

Thank you everyone for allowing me to fill some of the time in your busy day. I hope you have liked the recipes, tried a few of the places that have been reviewed and enjoyed the writing and photos. I look forward to another year of food, fun, friends, and family.
Thanks Again,
Awat
